The event scheduled for 21 - 22 April has been cancelled. 

SAME has made this decision following CDC recommendations for social distancing and the feedback from our Government and Industry partners that have had travel restrictions imposed.  

The hotel will cancel any room reservations in our block. You are encouraged to call the hotel to confirm cancellation of your reservation.

Future communications will provide details on receiving a full refund.  This policy applies to all attendees, presenters, exhibitors, and sponsors.

A room block is available for Tuesday night, April 21st, at a reduced rate of $226. Reservations can be made by contacting Marriott Reservations at 1 (800) 228-9290 or clicking here. Rooms must be reserved by March 23, 2020 to receive the room block rate.

Our room block is currently full. We are working with the hotel to add more rooms, but with the hotel reaching capacity there is no guarantee. Lunch Keynote Presentation - Sea Level Rise Strategy and Upcoming Plans, by City of Charleston Resilience Director, Mark Wilbert.

Mark Wilbert is the Chief Resilience Officer and Director of Emergency Management for the City of Charleston, SC. As Chief Resilience Officer, his efforts have focused on leading city staff members in developing an implementation plan for addressing the consequences of seal level rise and the various types of associated flooding. As the Director of Emergency Management, he is responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive Emergency Management Program in a thriving city of approximately one hundred and fifty thousand residents and almost six million visitors annually.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2013, Mark served on active duty in the United States Coast Guard for 35 years. During his career, he was involved in planning, responding to, and managing numerous weather related disasters, 9-11 related events, and several large-scale incidents and events, including the G-8 Summit in 2004, Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010, and the annual Cooper River Bridge Run; 5th largest Road Race in the United States.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing no later than 5:00pm on April 7, 2020 for a full refund (less administrative costs if paid through PayPal). No-shows and cancellations made after this deadline are responsible for the full cost of registration, sponsorship, exhibitor fee, etc.
