2017 Scholarship Application

The Chesapeake Post of SAME announces the availability of the 2017-18 college scholarship applications. They can be obtained by clicking the following link: 2017 SAME College Scholarship or on our Facebook Page:  Society of American Military Engineers, Chesapeake Post - SAME Chesapeake.  Deadline for submittal is midnight, March 31, 2017.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Chesapeake Post is offering scholarships to assist college students who are pursuing careers in STEM fields: engineering, architecture, mathematics, technology, computer or related science (chemistry, biology, physics) degree programs. (Health sciences are not included.) Awards are made on an annual basis and can range from $300 to $1000 per recipient. Students enrolling as a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in college for academic year 2017-2018 can apply.

Selection Process: The Chesapeake Post Scholarship Committee will meet in mid-April to review applications. All applicants will be notified of their determination. Preference will be given to those applicants who: are already members of SAME, have attended a meeting or SAME event in the past year, have participated in an engineering or science activity (i.e. robotics competition), or have participated in an internship at APG or other engineering or science related facility. Past scholarship recipients re-applying for a 2017-18 scholarship must have an active SAME membership.

The SAME Mission
“To promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public- and private-sector engineers and related professionals, and by developing future engineers through outreach and mentoring.”
