The District Science Fairs all around the State were not held in March due to Covid19 precautions. Instead, the orchestrators of the District and State science fairs have been working diligently to conduct them virtually instead. Students have been video-recording their project descriptions and preparing their materials for judging this past month. Now its time for our professional community to step up and judge their projects from the comfort of our own homes between Thursday, April 30th and Thursday, May 7th!
You can choose a convenient time to judge projects from home, on the couch or at the kitchen table. There will be an on-line tutorial and a judge’s orientation. To understand what’s entailed here are the online judging instructions.
- Please sign up to judge the science fair – a rewarding and interesting way of giving back and growing future STEM talent! For the Dayton region go to this page and click on “register” in the upper right corner to get started. For links to any other regions and/or to judge at the State level, use this site to connect to your local or state science fair’s website.
- If you already signed up to judge in March, you should be getting information regarding virtual judging for your local District Science Day via email.
Lastly, if you do judge please let Nadja Turek know at Nadja.firstname.lastname@example.org. Its as yet unclear if SAME will still be able to award our usual science fair awards via this process, but if we can she needs to know who’s judging so as to coordinate selection of the SAME awards. Thank you for supporting this valuable STEM activity!
