JETC 2019 was a blast!

Many members of the SAME Kittyhawk post traveled to Tampa, Florida to attend the Joint
Engineer Training Conference (JETC) in early May of 2019. The week was filled with professional
development, continuing education sessions and networking with industry peers. Fellowship was also a
key ingredient to the fun that was JETC. Whether it be the sustaining member receptions in the bay,
taking in the culture of Ybor city, or a friendly game of Crud (an airman’s game), the Kittyhawk post was
involved!
On the recognition front, the Kittyhawk post was also well represented at JETC. Kittyhawk’s own
Captain Brendan Maestas was chosen as one of the 18 participants in SAME’s new Leader Development
Program. JETC 2019 officially kicked off the yearlong training for Captain Maestas that will culminate at
the 2020 JETC. Woolpert, who is one of the sustaining members of the Kittyhawk post, received the
2018 Seymour S. Greenfield Sustaining Member award from SAME national in recognition of their
outstanding leadership and mentorship. With regard to STEM, the Kittyhawk post received the SAME
National Award for STEM outreach. Finally, the Kittyhawk post achieved recognition as being a
Distinguished Post which is the highest measurement of excellence for the entire nation within our
society.
The future is bright for SAME and specifically for the Kittyhawk post as we move closer toward the SAME
Centennial Year which officially will kick off next year at JETC in our nation’s capital.
