JJ Tang, AIA, LEED AP, is Principal, Federal Programs, with HDR Architecture Inc. He also is Chair of the SAME Architectural Practice Committee, a committee he helped establish in 2012 along with other past Urbahn Medal recipients, and has served as chair of since its inception. JJ, an accomplished architect, was the 2010 SAME Urbahn Medal recipient and this year at JETC will be honored with the President's Medal for his outstanding contributions to SAME during the current president's term of office. Tang continues to work to bring awareness to the role of the architect in creating sustainable, adaptable, and dependable federal buildings. Two recent articles published in The Military Engineer that he authored, "A Place to Call Home: Pushing the Sustainable Design Envelope on Military Barracks" and "How Form Follows Function: Inside the Design of Secure Government Facilities"...

The SAME 2016 Transition Workshop and Job Fair connects AEC professionals with SAME Sustaining Member companies and federal agencies looking for talent to pursue their federal programs and projects. Whether you are a transitioning service member, a recent veteran, or a seasoned professional ready to make your next career move, you will benefit from the opportunity to meet with recruiters and other professionals from leading A/E/C firms and government agencies. Each attending company and agency has a private suite, which allows for small group gatherings as well as one-on-one discussions. Most importantly, all companies and agencies are looking to fill positions that are specific to the skills and expertise of today’s A/E/C professionals. The event is FREE for Transitioning Military, Veterans and SAME members who are not currently employed; there is a nominal fee for SAME members currently employed in the private sector.

Col. John Medeiros, USAF (Ret.), is Principal Director and Owner of Eupraxis LLC and a Ph.D. candidate at the Virginia Tech School for Policy and International Affairs.  While in the Air Force and deployed in Iraq in 2006, Col. Medeiros directed $2.3 billion in water, wastewater and water-resource reconstruction, as well as ministerial governance and capacity development for water-related programs.  After his deployment, he served on the JCS Global War on Terrorism Strategic Dialogue Group where he collaborated on the President’s Iraq Security Plan. Col Medeiros served in various installation, major command, and headquarters positions, and commanded units at multiple levels.  He retired as the Associate Air Force Civil Engineer in 2008 and began his doctoral studies in Infrastructure and Homeland Security in 2012. He expects to graduate in 2015.

Col. Sal Nodjomian, P.E., F.SAME, USAF (Ret.), is Executive Vice President, Matrix Design Group, where he is responsible for the development and execution of strategic plans and leads the vertical integration of broad reaching federal and military practices. He also provides strategic consulting, including business plans and sales strategy development.  Prior to joining Matrix, Col. Nodjomian served for nearly 24 years in the U.S. Air Force in a series of progressively demanding positions. He transitioned to the private sector in fall 2012. His final assignment was Installation Commander for Eglin AFB, Fla., where he oversaw more than 6,000 personnel in providing all base operational support, infrastructure and services support for DOD’s largest installation. Among his other diverse career assignments include Senior Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment & Logistics, and Commander, 332nd Expeditionary Mission Support Group.
