logoSAME is presenting a series of Design–Build Workshops with a special focus on improving communications between design-build end users, construction agents, architects/engineers and contractors to better facilitate the solicitation and execution of DOD design-build projects. Best practices applicable to DOD projects will be discussed, with examples provided of current design–build success stories and lessons learned.

These special 2½- day workshops will be presented by Ms. Leandra Thompson, DBIA, Northstar Project Management. [Click here to read Ms. Thompson’s résumé in PDF format.] There will be both lectures and practical exercises.

The Workshops will...
... discuss the four primary delivery methods used by DOD (D–B–B, CM at Risk, Bridging and D–B), to portray D–B as one of the several options available;
... provide a forum for presentation of DB best practices as drawn from DBIA and other publications, as they apply to DOD projects;
... allow industry members to give DOD insight into how DOD RFPs can be written to minimize cost and risk, and optimize contractor innovation, while meeting governmental requirements.
Topics covered will include:
Basics about Bridging and Design- Build Risk Management
Design-Build Best Practices for DOD and Industry Performance Specifications
Implementation of Design-Build Contract After Award Lessons Learned from DOD and Industry Project Managers
