TME retro photo Much of the infrastructure of today's military bases is "strategically sourced" to private A/E/C firms. In an article on the progress of CampRipley, Minns, the March-April 1936 issue of The Military Engineer reported that most of the improvement, construction and maintenance duties were strategically source to 600-700 non-military Works Progress Administration (WPA) employees on a daily basis.
