The Oren Medal is named in honor of Rear Adm. John B. Oren, U.S. Coast Guard.

Presented for outstanding contribution to military engineering by a civilian or military member of the U.S. Coast Guard. This medal was first presented in 1968.

Criteria: Outstanding contribution to military engineering through achievement in design, construction, administration, research, or development.

Eligibility: Regular or reserve U.S. Coast Guard officer in an active, inactive, or retired status; or a U.S. Coast Guard civilian employee, or retiree, of equivalent grade.
