Mission Statement

The Society of American Military Engineers Noncommissioned Officers (NCO) Council, a national mission committee, was created to support programming for SAME's NCOs, active and retired.

The mission of the SAME Noncommissioned Officers (NCO) Council is to oversee the integration of NCO's throughout the spectrum of SAME operations; advocate and engage NCO support of SAME's Strategic Plan through outreach, training, networking and recognition, and provide value added to the NCO member.

It's official!

We are now a formal Council within SAME with an approved Charter. The Board of Direction approved the Charter at the board meeting recently held at the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Regional Conference in Chicago, IL. The document provides for four Vice-Chairs. Their position responsibilities are as follows:

Vice Chair, Conferences - Responsible for planning the Joint Engineer NCO Symposium, as well as the NCO training sessions at the annual Joint Engineer Education and Training Conference, in coordination with the Host program committee. Also assists the program committees for other regional conferences by providing relevant programs and finding ways to increase NCO participation. Coordinates initiatives with the Vice Chair of Programs, as appropriate.

Vice Chair, Communications- Responsible for communicating information on NCO activities to and from Posts, and provides information to SAME HQ for publication on the Council web site and in SAME News. The Vice Chair of Communications will write relevant articles, in collaboration with the Chair and other Vice Chairs, and provide to SAME HQ. The Vice Chair of Communications serves as the Primary Point of Contact (POC) for Council information.

Vice Chair, Membership - Works with the Chair and Membership committee and Posts in increasing the membership of NCOs in the Society.

Vice Chair, Education - Works with the Chair, Education Committee and Posts to establish educational programs relevant to NCOs
