SAME’s Executive Forum brings together Senior Executives from the Uniformed Services and private sector to discuss issues of shared interest. This unique event is offered only to SAME Executive Members and all senior-level Sustaining Members (Vice Presidents, Principles and Executives).
A full agenda of sessions is planned, covering topics impacting our uniformed services. Topics are divided into five topic areas (tracks):
- MILCON Project Delivery
- DOD Contracting
- Sustainable Installations: Policy to Practice
- Building Information Modeling (BIM) for DOD
- Joint Engineer Contingency Operations (By invitation only)
The format for the Executive Forum is designed to facilitate discussion between the invited Subject Matter Experts and the government and industry attendees. Rooms will be set up as hollow squares with a maximum of 32 participants in each room, except for the Joint Engineer Contingency Operations Track which is limited to 18 attendees. Attendees must sign up for one track and remain in that track for the duration of the Forum. There will be an agenda which will guide the discussion, but the facilitator has much flexibility in working through the agenda. There will be no power point briefings. The Recorder for the session will prepare a report which will be submitted to SAME HQ so that a summary of the Forum can be prepared for the Jan/Feb edition of TME (The Military Engineer) magazine. The discussions will be “not for attribution,” meaning that the report will not identify participants by name. Each Facilitator will provide a short, 5-minute oral report at the closing luncheon.
The Joint Engineer Contingency Operations (JECO) Track is hosted by the new SAME Joint Engineer Contingency Operations Committee, chaired by COL Mike Flanagan, USA (Ret.). The SAME Board of Direction recently established JECO Committee to provide greater focus on engineers in combat areas of operation. The Executive Forum will be the first of a continuing series of such forums to get the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps engineers together to discuss joint engineer contingency operations. The JECO Track is “By Invitation Only,” however, the attendees will be joining the other tracks at the reception and dinner on Monday evening.
