Shortly following the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, 11 professional and technical organizations and federal agencies formed The Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP) as a nonprofit partnership focused on facilitating dialogue on domestic infrastructure security and offering sources of technical support and sources for comment on public policy related to the security of the nation’s built environment. SAME members can now register for and attend licensure and ethics courses offered by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and receive a special discount rate. Through a “Memorandum of Agreement” [PDF] between SAME and NSPE, SAME members can take advantage of NSPE’s course offerings at NSPE member discounted prices.
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is North America’s only organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of professional construction and program management. Since its inception in 1982, CMAA’s membership has grown to 8,700 members and counting. The Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI), a subsidiary of CMAA, administers the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) program, which has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute, and has certified 1,700 CCMs to date.
CMAA services both the public and private sectors and is made up of individual practitioners, academics, corporations, and owner companies. With 28 chapters through out the nation and 40 student chapters, CMAA is dedicated to promoting and enhancing leadership, professionalism and excellence in managing the development and construction of projects and programs.
CMAA presents two national gatherings annually: The Owners Leadership Forum in the spring and the National Conference & Trade Show in the fall.
