Repairing the roof of a wounded warrior's home
The SAME Carolina Midlands Post completed repairing the home of an injured veteran on Aug. 17, 2012. Twenty-seven volunteers pitched in to repair the roof of Sgt. 1st Class Chris Aubrey, a wounded warrior who was stationed at Fort Jackson. Sgt. 1st Class Aubrey resides in Lugoff, S.C.
On Feb. 3, 2012, the Carolina Midlands Post removed old shingles and installed new ones for Antonio Cowell, a local wounded warrior in Sumter, SC. Members of the Post organized the team which included volunteers from Shaw Air Force Base 20th Civil Engineering Squadron; Sumter County Sheriff's office; Fort Roofing and Sheet Metal Works; ARM Environmental Services, Inc. and Duro-Last Roofing. Materials were donated by Best Distributing Company and Fort Roofing. Cowell was grateful to all of the volunteers for his renovated roof.
