Nomination Narrative Response

The reviewing committee places strong emphasis on the proven leadership exhibited by the nominee.

The narrative response to the Fellows Criteria should describe the nominee’s leadership, dedication and outstanding service to SAME and the engineering and related professions. Service must be shown to have been “outstanding” and therefore beyond the norm. The responses should specify what the nominee has accomplished as well as how and why those accomplishments have been important to both SAME and the engineering profession. In order to convey dedicated and outstanding service, each of the six (6) Fellows Criteria are required to be addressed.

The strength of each nomination package will be measured by the quality (not quantity) of information. It is extremely important that the narrative response provide specific details on EACH of the six Fellows Criteria. Note in Criteria 3 & 5 all sub-elements may not be applicable to nominee’s background (i.e. writing of professional articles for publication), however, as many as possible of the sub elements should be documented in the narrative response.

Endorsement Information

Any SAME member may nominate an SAME member to be a Fellow. Every nomination must include at least five (5) endorsements. The nominator will not be included in that total. Every endorsement must be from an SAME member. The five endorsements must include the endorsement of the Post President of the primary Post of the nominee. If the Post President is the nominee, the endorsement must come from another Post officer. The five endorsements must also include the endorsement of the Regional Vice President (RVP). If the RVP is the nominee, the endorsement of the past RVP can be substituted. Within the five required endorsements by SAME members (including the Post President and RVP), at least two of those endorsements must be from SAME Fellows.
