Mission

Facilitate discussion among the military services and industry on current joint engineer operations and the issues that need to be addressed for future joint engineer operations.
 
Include combatant command engineers, field commanders, training center commanders and supporting contractors.
Facilitate discussion among the Engineer Officer training centers at AFIT, AES, CECOS and the Marine Corps Center of Excellence on training and education of engineer forces to support the combatant commanders.
 
The desired end state is the increased relevancy of SAME within the Joint Force and Component Engineer Communities while supporting Contingency Operations.

 


Current/Past Events

Conducted the JECO track meetings at the JETC in Orlando in May 2014
– One focused on contractor risk vs. government risk on the battlefield
– One focused on Engineer force structure

– Quantico, VA:  October 2014
– Africom / Eucom Germany March 2015
– Fort Leonard Wood, MO: April 2015
– Port Hueneme: May 2015
– Wright Patterson AFB: June 2013
– Pearl Harbor, HI: September 2015

2014-2015 Goals

​2014-2015 JECO Work Plan

•         Education:
– Continue support of Joint Engineer Officer’s Course (JEOC) – Contractors on the Battlefield: 6 Courses, 1 at each service school and 2 OCONUS (AFRICOM/EUCOM and PACOM)

– Increase support to Service Engineer School
•         Contribute to credentialing and transition prep efforts for military tradesmen with the Warrior Transition Task Force (WTTF)
•         Add PDH credits periodically to monthly JECO Conf Calls for quest spkrs 
•         Improve and document lessons learned from Contractors on the Battlefield to improve both government and contractor support / effectiveness during operations
•         Assist in maximizing the effectiveness of the total Engineer force structure.
•         Moderate 2015 JETC workshops on Engineer Doctrine and developing capability packages showing how industry can augment decreasing uniformed Engineer force structure
•         Identify specific opportunities where SAME can support the Joint Operational Engineer Board (JOEB)
