In 2009, SAME initiated the SAME Small Business Conference for DOD Engineering, Construction and Environmental Programs to prepare small business leaders with the tools needed to do business with DOD agencies. Information on finding teaming partners and learning about upcoming programs, projects and contract opportunities is also presented. Held in conjunction with the Marine Corps Engineer Association (MCEA) 2011 Reunion Awards Banquet, the SAME Engineer Warfighting Workshop is a daylong program of briefings and panel discussions addressing Marine Corps combat engineer force structure, policy and training, and recent experiences by USMC engineer and Seabee units in Afghanistan.
The Peninsula Engineer Conference (PEC), first hosted by SAME in 2009, offers members of the U.S. and Korean militaries two days of briefings on military engineer operations, construction and facilities management and updates on the transformation of the U.S. Korea Command and the Korea Relocation Plan. Held in Seoul, South Korea.
SAME’s Transition Workshop and Job Fair connects members of the uniformed services who have recently left government service or who will be transitioning from public service with SAME Sustaining Member Companies and DOD agencies looking for talent to pursue their DOD programs and projects. The goal of this event is to provide interested Sustaining Member Companies and public agencies the opportunity to meet and discuss job opportunities with talented and experienced individuals from the public sector.
The DOD and Federal Agency Program Briefings present a preview of the coming fiscal-year budget for DOD agencies, the federal government and the public sector. Budget briefs by the program director of each military service and leaders from select federal agencies, a panel discussion featuring the Engineering Service Chief from each of the military services and a luncheon with a featured speaker round out the briefings. Held every March in the Washington, D.C., metro area, the event is open to SAME Sustaining Members only.
SAME's annual Executive Forum includes several topic-specific roundtable discussion groups, each with each group reporting its findings and recommendations at a closing luncheon. The forum is open to executive and senior-level SAME members only, each of whom select a discussion group in which to participate. Approximately 20 senior government officials are invited, with four to five attending each roundtable discussion group.
