Jane C. Penny, P.E., F.SAME, AECOM

Jane C. Penny, P.E., F.SAME, is Group Chief Executive for National Governments, AECOM, where she is responsible for growing the U.S. federal and other global government business sector for the firm. She has more than 30 years of experience in planning, designing, conducting, managing and directing civil engineering, environmental and infrastructure projects. During her tenure at AECOM, Penny has led its Government Technical Services Group and its Federal Business Development Group. Prior to joining AECOM, she was Regional Operations Manager for Dynamac Corp., and before that, served as Senior Environmental Engineer for the U.S. Air Force, where she was responsible for the oversight of regulatory compliance for all Air Force installations in the southeastern United States. Penny became a member of SAME in 1983. She has served as Treasurer of the Illini Post, and as Secretary, Vice President and President of the Atlanta Post. Penny also served as the South Atlantic Regional Vice President for three years. Penny was named to the SAME National Board of Direction and served as President-Elect, 2014-2015. She was the recipient of the SAME President’s Medal in 2007. She was bestowed the James H. Lucas Emeritus Chair in 2015 and honored with the Outstanding Young Engineer Award in 1994, both by the Atlanta Post. Penny was invested in the SAME Academy of Fellows in 1998.

Capt. Michael L. Blount, P.E., LEED AP BD&C, Assoc. DBIA, F.SAME, USN (Ret.)

Capt. Michael L. Blount, P.E., LEED AP BD&C, Assoc. DBIA, F.SAME, USN (Ret.), is currently Vice President of the Federal Center of Excellence for Balfour Beatty Construction. Previously he served in the U.S. Navy. Command positions included: Commanding Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast, Jacksonville, Fla.; Commander, 30th Naval Construction Regiment, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Public Works Officer and Officer-in-Charge of Construction, Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy; and Commanding Officer, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, Gulfport, Miss. Capt. Blount has served in numerous SAME leadership positions including:
Chair, SAME Energy and Sustainability Committee, 2013-Present; Co-Chair, DBIA/SAME Federal Delivery Symposium, 2014; Member, Executive Committee, 2009-2011; Member, SAME Board of Direction, 2008-2012; South Atlantic Regional Vice President, 2008-2012; President, Jacksonville Post, 2006-2007; First Vice President, Jacksonville Post, 2006; Regional Vice President Secretary to Rear Adm. Ives, 1987-1988. He is an Instructor at Norwich University, which he has continued since 2006, and a member of the DBIA, Federal Sector Committee and Chi Epsilon, National Civil Engineering Honor Society.

Col. Kurt Ubbelohde, F.SAME, USA (Ret.), LEO A DALY

Col. Kurt Ubbelohde, F.SAME, USA (Ret.) is currently Vice President, Corporate Director of Federal Programs for LEO A DALY. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving in various command positions including: Commander and District Engineer, Mosul, Iraq, U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE); Commander and District Engineer, USACE Omaha District; Division Chief, Plans and Construction, Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer, U.S. Army in Europe, Heidelberg, Germany. Col. Ubbelohde joined SAME in 1993 and has taken a strong leadership role in the development of the SAME Engineering & Construction Camps including serving as  service Chair, 2012-Present and  Deputy Chair, 2010-2012, of the SAME Engineering & Construction Camps Committee as well as a Senior Mentor for the USAFA Engineering & Construction Camp, Colorado Springs, Colo., 2006-Present. Additionally, he served as President of the Omaha Post, 2002-2003 and as Vice President and Programs Committee Chair at the Fort Drum Post, 1993-1995. He is a recipient of the Gerald C. Brown Mentoring Award and a Regional Vice President’s Medal as well as the Eva Jon Sperling MVP Leadership Award from the University of Nebraska Executive MBA Program and a  Silver De Fleury Medal, Army Engineer Association.

Col. Sal M. Nodjomian, P.E., F.SAME, USAF (Ret.), is currently Executive Vice President, Matrix Design Group. Previously, he served in the U.S. Air Force where his most recent duty assignments included:  Commander, 96th Air Base Wing; Senior Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force; Commander, 332nd Expeditionary Mission Support Group; Chief, Programs Division, Office of the Civil Engineer; and Chairman, Installation Support Panel. He has held numerous leadership positions in SAME including: Regional Vice President, South Central Region, 2012-Present; Elected Director, SAME Board of Direction, 2011-2012; Co-Founder, SAME Field Chapter, Joint Base Balad, Iraq, 2009; President, Lewis and Clark Post, 2005; and Vice President, Anchorage Post, 2003. Active in his community, Col. Nodjomian currently serves as Councilman, City of Niceville, Fla.; Board Member, United Way of Okaloosa/Walton County; Board Member, Association of Defense Communities; and Chairman, Florida Military Family Community Covenant.

Col. John W. Mogge, PH.D., RA, CSIP, F.SAME, USAF (Ret.)

Global Director of Technology, Practice and Design, Environmental Services Business Group, CH2M HILL

Col. Mogge joined CH2M HILL in 2001 as Southeast Business Group Manager in the firm’s Transportation Business Group following a 27-year career with the U.S. Air Force. In August 2008, he became Global Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning, CH2M HILL Environmental Services Business Group, and in January 2010, was named a Senior Vice President with the firm and appointed to his current position as Global Director of Technology, Practice and Design. Among his many achievements at CH2M HILL, he served during 2006–2007 as the Sustainability Program Manager for planning the execution of the 2012 London Olympics as a member of the CLM Joint Venture.[Full bio]

Brig. Gen. Joseph “Joe” Schroedel, P.E., F.SAME, USA (Ret.), became the Executive Director of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) on Aug. 4, 2014. He is responsible for a staff of more than 22 professionals and a budget of more than $7 million. In accordance with the SAME bylaws, national officers are elected prior to each year's Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo. Nominations for elected office are made to the Executive Director by Jan. 15 and elections are held throughout the month of March.
