For the first time, SAME is now able to offer Professional Development Hours (PDHs) through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE). The three CEP courses are focused on supporting A/E/C professionals working in and for the engineering services of the U.S. military.

The one and a half day Energy Management for DOD Installations course will outline strategies for DOD Installation Owners to improve energy usage. Current DOD Energy Management policies, goal and date reporting will be reviewed. Attendees will learn the best practices to create energy and water saving opportunities for DOD installation owners including renewable energy, energy storage and financing energy investments.

Fifteen percent of the buildings owned by the federal government and military services are required to meet the guidelines for High Performance Sustainable Buildings. This course gives facility managers, designers and facility engineers the tools needed to asses and implement sustainability and energy improvements to their facilities. The course uses the well-developed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Building rating system as a framework for applying overall building sustainability.

This course will provide participants with an understanding of: The adaptation of FAR Clauses 16.403-2 and 52.216-17 to construction—key terminology/concepts; Structure of the Bid Schedule; Calculation of the Profit Range and significance of Initial Target Profit in the bid; Recommended RFP evaluation criterion; Expectations of all stakeholders during Design Phase (Preconstruction Services); Negotiating Firm Target Price and Firm Fixed Price; Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Requirements; and Lessons Learned in thru all phases of project delivery.
