Design-Build Institute of America
The Design-Build Institute of America (CMAA)defines, teaches and promotes design-build best practices. Members are connected to a network of over 4,200 leaders in the design and construction industry. DBIA members span the entire spectrum of design and construction professions including, architects, engineers, specialty contractors, public and private facility owners, attorneys, industry consultants, business development professionals, students and faculty.
DBIA offers two types of Certification: DBIA, which requires two to six years of hands-on experience of pre- and post-award design-build; and the Associate Design-Build Professional™ (Assoc. DBIA™), which does not require hands-on field experience.
SAME and DBIA co-host the annual Federal Project Delivery Symposium each year in the DC metropolitan area. DBIA also holds three other annual events: the Design-Build Conference & Expo; Design-Build in Transportation; and Design-Build for Water Wastewater. In addition, DBIA offers numerous education opportunities to teach practical "how to" strategies and techniques for the effective implementation of design-build project delivery.
As part of the partnership, DBIA Regions and SAME Posts will have opportunities to host DBIA courses at the Post level, with SAME members eligible for DBIA member rates.
