President's Message

The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Chesapeake Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Chesapeake Post membership.

Webinar: Exploring Options to Improve Energy Efficiency

(1 PDH)

Available FREE to All SAME Members By: Amec Foster Wheeler

POC: Nicole Mathews

Although proper maintenance will give your HVAC equipment the best chance to make it to its life expectancy, the efficiency of the equipment begins to deteriorate shortly after installation. Creative innovators have developed retrofits that will not only increase the lifespan of the equipment, but will also improve the efficiency of existing chillers, split-systems, and package units, and pay for themselves in a relatively short time frame.  While this session will include a discussion on coil coating, refrigerant system optimization, and evaporative pre-cooling for condenser coils, the main objective will be to discuss appropriate steps to warrant the investment of energy efficient upgrades on a DX system.

Who Should Attend:

  • Engineers or technicians interested in either a micro-discussion on HVAC equipment

  • Or those interested in a macro-discussion on steps to take when deploying new technology

  • Warrant the investment of energy efficient upgrades on DX systems
