The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Chicago Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Chicago Post membership.

STEM  Summer Camps for High Schoolers

The Chicago Society of American Military Engineers is an active supporter of the U.S. Department of Education’s STEM initiatives.  STEM Camps provide hands on experience and training for students to use science, technology, engineering and math to solve real world situations.  These camps are sponsored by SAME, in collaboration with the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and Cost Guard.  They are staffed by experienced servicemen, officers and SAME volunteers.  These camps provide an excellent opportunity for high school aged students to gain valuable engineering experience.  Our post will pay for travel costs and 50% of the registration fees for qualifying students to attend a STEM Camp.  Applicants will pay for the remainder of the costs.  Prospective applicants can apply on line at http://www.same.org/STEMCAMPS.  They should reference the Chicago Chapter in their applications for sponsorship.  The Student application deadline is March 15, 2018.
