College Scholarships:
Since 2007, the Post has awarded scholarships totaling $25,300. The Post awarded three scholarships on Jan 17. Each of these new scholarships is good for four years, provided the student progresses with their education and extracurricular activities. Congratulations to the most recent winners: Casey Carnevale, Emily Sandlin, and Tyler Fitzgerald.
Tyler Fitzgerald
$2,000 scholarship (payable in $500 per year increments assuming awardee maintains good standing)
Activities and Awards:
- Cary Christian Secondary School, Cary, NC
- Applied to NC State, Clemson, Campbell, and VMI
- Plans to major in Mechanical Engineering
- Cumulative GPA of 4.0 (unweighted) and 5.17 (weighted)
- ACT score: 26
- SAT score: 1350
- A Honor Roll 9th-11th grade
- AP scholar 11th grade
- Eagle Scout - 2015
- Outfielder in Varsity and Recreational Baseball

Casey Carnevale

- Plans to major in Chemical Engineering

Emily Sandlin
$2,000 scholarship (payable in $500 per year increments assuming awardee maintains good standing)

- 1st in class of 180 students

SAME USMC Camp 2017 Clawson Scholarship Winner:
Each year, one camper is chosen out of 50 to be awarded the Clawson Scholarship.
Kiernan O'Connor
Grosse Ile, MI

$1,000 Clawson scholarship for outstanding performance at the USMC SAME STEM Camp.
Kiernan attended the June 2017 USMC SAME STEM Camp aboard MCB Camp Lejeune. He is active in men's crew, National Honor Society, and Rotary Interact Club as the president elect.

Todd Stancil – Selected as Overall Top Camper
Greenville, NC

Scholarship award of $500 per semester for four years, assuming satisfactory progress in an engineering or engineering related field of study.
Todd attended the June 2017 USMC SAME STEM Camp aboard MCB Camp Lejeune. He is active in BSA as a Life Scout currently working on his Eagle project, FIRST robotics as the engineering captain for the team, and is captain of the JV football team.
Ian Moritz – Selected as Top Camper for Echo Squad
Centreville, VA

Scholarship award of $500 per semester for three semesters, assuming satisfactory progress in an engineering or engineering related field of study.
Ian attended the June 2017 USMC SAME STEM Camp aboard MCB Camp Lejeune. He is active in student government as the activities chair, is the founder/president of the game of theory society, and volunteers at church.

Kadyn Hollis

Cary High School - completed freshman year
Wants to be a US Marine and mechanical engineer
Plans to apply to NC State and take ROTC
Activities he enjoys: football, track and field, and weightlifting.
Hanna Fulford

Apex High School - completed sophomore year
Going to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics for junior and senior year.
Plans to apply to military service academies and civilian colleges with ROTC
