President's Message

Greetings SAME Denver Metro Post (DMP) Community,

As we approach the 2020 holiday season, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind each of you how important you are to the Denver Metro Post, SAME and your community. It is almost unimaginable how much our life’s have changed in less than a year during this trying pandemic. However, it is times like this that have brought out the best in all of us and truly highlighted why the SAME National mission and all of you are so important. From our partners within the US Army Corps of Engineers handling the quick deployment of Alternate Care Facilities in our own backyard to increase COVID hospital bed capacity throughout the Denver Metro area to the first-ever virtual 2020 Design and Construction at Hazardous Waste Sites (DCHWS) national symposium, everyone seems to be busier than ever, with a real sense of making a difference. During the holidays it’s important that we reflect not only on everything we have accomplished over the past year, but more importantly, I encourage all of us to take a moment to reflect on everything that we are grateful for and for the people in our lives that are so important to us.

As we look forward to what 2021 will bring, I believe we are all encouraged with the possibilities and opportunities ahead. With last year’s virtual Joint Engineer Training Conference (JETC) being so well attended, I believe that even if restrictions don’t permit a full-in person experience, that there will be another great virtual JETC offering again. We now have information on this year’s scholarship application process on the website. Please make sure to get the word out to those high school seniors interested in a STEM career or those college students enrolled in a STEM curriculum.  Lastly, please be on the lookout for planning and volunteer opportunities to support the Rocky Mountain combined Centennial SAME Celebration during the Denver Metro Post’s 100 year anniversary, projected to happen sometime in 2021. And please know that the Post leadership is looking at ways to bring great content and programs to our membership each and every month.  Later in November the Board of Direction we will be holding a virtual planning session to lay out the 2021 program year, so if you have something in particular you would like to see, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me our another SAME Denver Board Member. As always I am honored and delighted to be your Post President.  I wish you and your family a great holiday season and look forward to checking back in 2021.
