The Society of American Military Engineers Young Members Council, a national mission council, was created to support
programming for SAME's Young Members (age 39 or younger) at the local chapter (Post) level.
The Council's mission is to provide guidance and professional development resources to Posts and Young Members,
to facilitate participation in Society events and activities at the national and local levels, and to develop and
enhance the Young Members' "networking" relationship.
For 2011, the Nashville Post would like to find a way to increase Young Member and Student Participation throughout
the Post. This would include attendance at meetings and involvement in one of the many committees that are available.
For the 2011 year, we as a Post have Young Members on the Board of Directors, on various committees and in key leadership
roles. This gives us as Young Members a voice in the operations of the Post. As most of you are surely aware, the Young
Members are a crucial part of the Post success, and the Young members will be the ones to carry the Post into the years
to come as the more seasoned and tenured members begin to retire and go their ways.
For this reason, I would like to challenge each and every one of you to get more involved in the Nashville Post.
Whether it be attending the monthly meetings, coming to the Young Member events, or participating in one of the Post
Committees. I would also like to know what ideas you all have for Young Member events and possible luncheon topics.
The Post needs your help to ensure a successful Young Member Program and the future of the Nashville Post.
This year the Post will look to support the Young members by sponsoring events and developing active Young Members
by sending select Young Members to various National and Regional SAME events. This will be a great opportunity for
those Young Members to travel and network outside of their home stations without incurring any cost to themselves
or their companies.
If you are interested in getting more involved, or would like to submit ideas for social events, functions or luncheon topics,
please contact Maj. Burkhart or Chris Stoltz. I look forward to hopefully seeing you all at the next YM event.
