The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Rock Island Post, has a scholarship trust fund to encourage and support talented students in their pursuit of careers in engineering and the physical sciences. For 2020, SAME is offering a combination of one-year, two-year, and four-year scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in these fields.
One-year scholarships will be awarded at the $1,000 level to a combination of graduating high school seniors and student members of the University of Iowa SAME Student Post. SAME will award the scholarships to the students who best fit the criteria (download the application below). In selecting scholarship recipients, graduating high school seniors and University of Iowa SAME Student Post members will be ranked separately.
Two-year scholarships will be awarded at the $2,000 level ($1,000 per year for two years) and Four-year scholarships will be awarded at the $4,000 level ($1,000 per year for four years) to graduating high school seniors. The Post will award the scholarships to high school seniors who best fit the criteria (download the application below). The benefits to these scholarships include sponsorship to SAME and future mentor connections that can be invaluable to the student. These scholarships are offered to graduating seniors from several local high schools in the Quad Cities and surrounding Areas.
The Rock Island Post shall determine the scholarship recipients based on applications postmarked by March 25, 2020. Scholarships will be awarded at a SAME meeting, or at the school if time permits.
