The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) seeks creative and innovative problem solvers to participate in the inaugural Leader Development Program (LDP). Developed with support from the SAME Foundation, LDP identifies and cultivates talent from within the SAME membership who seek to advance their leadership skills to address the nation’s grand challenges. The target participant is an enthusiastic, mid-career professional dedicated to the mission and strategic direction of the Society. Members of SAME with at least one-year membership in the Society as of December 21, 2018, and with at least five years of progressive professional experience may apply. One applicant will be selected from each Region.
The program runs from May 2019 through May 2020 and includes over 80 hours of training and reading assignments. The SAME Foundation is funding the program due to the generous funding of individual members, sustaining members, partners and friends of the Society. Participants will have their JETC 2019 and JETC 2020 registration, travel, lodging, associated travel expenses, training and administrative costs paid by the SAME Foundation. Salary, books and all other costs are paid for by the candidate or candidate’s organization.
Applications for the LDP need to be submitted to Scott Nesbit by Friday, December 21. Instructions for the applications and additional information on the program can be found HERE.

The 3rd Annual Security and Risk Management Symposium sponsored by the Pennsylvania Governor's Office of Homeland Security, and the Pennsylvania Region 13 Task Force, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security - Office of Infrastructure Protection is being held on November 29, 2018. This symposium addresses: criminal activities, cyber and physical security threats in our region and globally, risk management strategies and insight on critical infrastructure interdependencies, prioritization of resources, protection of critical infrastructure assets and GridEX V. The program is offered without cost and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and free parking.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The symposium is intended for members of ASIS, InfraGard, IAEM, ISSA, TRCPA Pennsylvania (PA) Region 13, Public Sectors (Federal, State and Local) and Private Sectors (Business and Industry), Engineers, Emergency Management, Utilities, Law Enforcement, Business Continuity/Organizational Resilience Professionals, VOAD’s and those responsible for protecting our Nation’s Critical Infrastructure through cyber and physical security initiatives.

The SAME Young Member Council is continuing the Credentialing Achievement Awards Program (CAAP) to promote the professional development of SAME Young Members and Enlisted Members in support of the SAME Strategic Plan. The CAAP serves to fulfill an objective which is to provide financial support for professional development, education, and mentoring initiatives to benefit our SAME members.

The SAME Pittsburgh Post prepared and manned a STEM-related booth at the Sept. 15, 2018 ALCOSAN Open House, with over 2,000 attendees. Our exhibit incorporated hands-on use of Archimedes screws, shaker siphons, siphon tubes, and buoyancy measurement with a submerged weight and scale.
