Updated Message from the President, Seattle Post, SAME - June 2020
The Seattle Post SAME is continuing efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We are continuing to support State and National directives to social distance and avoid any in-person gatherings for at least the next several months.
Hopefully some of you took advantage of the first ever Virtual SAME National Joint Engineering Training Conference. Almost 2,000 people registered to partake in the very informative General Sessions and Technical Track sessions as well as the Virtual Exhibit Hall.
The Seattle Post has now had two successful Virtual Monthly Post Meetings. Thanks to NAVFAC NW and the USCG FD&CC for their respective presentations as part of those meetings. On June 16th, from Noon to 1pm we will be having our June Monthly Post Meeting. This meeting will be a joint meeting with our colleagues from the Mt. Tacoma Post. The Seattle District USACE will be the highlight presenter at this meeting. We will also be virtually swearing in the newly elected Officers and Board of Directors for Seattle Post for the coming year, July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
Here is a listing of the newly elected Officers and Directors for the coming year:

Please join me in congratulating the newly elected officers and directors. I also wish to thank Debra Chinn, Kathryn Bost, Bob Galteland, Kristie Casarez, Steve Woolery, LCDR Sam Lee, and Julie Erickson as their terms on this year’s Board come to an end.
As we continue to deal with the uncertainty of when changes will be made to the current State and Local health directives and what those changes will look like, we ask the you hold the dates for several upcoming events. The Annual Seattle and Mt. Tacoma Posts SAME Golf Tournament is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 13th at Eagle’s Pride Golf Course. As announced previously, we have rescheduled the Annual Meet-the-Chiefs event for September 21-22 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma. This is scheduled to be a Regional Event co-sponsored by the Mt. Tacoma, Portland, and Seattle Posts. Finally, the Seattle Post is planning on holding our Centennial Celebration Event on Friday evening, October 16th. More information on these events will be sent out as they become available.
Thank you to all for your support, cooperation, and continued involvement with SAME during these challenging times. It has been my honor to serve as your Post President this past year. Not at all what I envisioned at the start of my year last July but we have tried to adapt and to continue to move forward. I look forward to the time we can get together in-person once again.
The Seattle Post SAME is dedicated to the health and safety of all its members and event participants, and we thank you for your understanding in order to help contain the spread of the coronavirus. Please continue to check the Seattle Post SAME website: www.same.org/Seattle for updates.
