Tuesday's Courses:

  • Ethics Course (Tuesday, February 4 from 2:00pm - 5:00m) - 3 Ethics Credits, Course Number 2018-082

This 3-hour professional ethics course for NJ LSRPs will review both general and professional ethical fundamentals and will review the SRRA’s Code of Conduct, examine LSRP ethic requirements, business practices versus the standard of care, and present case studies from presenters and participants.

  • LSRPA Exam Prep Course - Part 1 (Tuesday, February 4 from 2:00pm - 6:30pm) - This is a 2-Day Course with the Second Session on Wednesday, February 5 from 8:00am to 12:00pm

** Prospective LSRPs Only** The LSRP Exam Preparation Course reviews the regulations and technical guidance upon which the LSRP Exam is based. This is the only prep course before the April 2020 exam. Class is split 4.5 hours Tuesday afternoon, 4 hours Wednesday morning. Book early; space is limited.

  • Waste Classification and Management for LSRPs (Tuesday, February 4 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm) - 2 Technical Credits Pending

Waste is generated on almost every remediation project, even in-situ treatment, and it can greatly impact schedule, cost, compliance and liability. This 2-hour course provides instruction to LSRPs and environmental professionals on how to properly identify, classify, treat and dispose of waste material.

  • Data Collection and Analysis for LSRPs: From the Field to the Lab and Lab Data Validation (Tuesday, February 4 from 4:15pm - 6:15pm) - 2 Technical Credits, Course Number 2019-086

This 2-hour course will provide focus and instruction on data and information collection in the field, laboratory methods and data validation, in order to ensure reliable data is obtained to support LSRPs’ data analysis and decision making. In addition to theoretical concepts, the class also incorporates examples from various LSRP cases.

  • Navigating Land Use Laws and Regulations During Site Remediation (Tuesday, February 4 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm) - 2 Regulatory Credits, Course Number 2019-084

LSRPs and environmental professionals need to have knowledge and understanding of the land use laws and regulations that apply when investigating and remediating a site. This 2-hour course will provide instruction on the various land use laws, regulations, permits, and approvals, with a specific focus on applicability of Municipal Land Use Law. Case studies and panel discussions will be included in this course.

  • Site Remediation Program Licensing Board Meeting (Tuesday, February 4 between 5:00pm - 7:00pm) - Open to All Pending Licensing Board Approval

  • Site Characterization for Planning In-Situ Remediation: The Tools, Technologies and Planning (Wednesday, February 5 from 8:00am - 10:00am) - 2 Technical Credits Pending

The 2-hour course will provide instruction to environmental professionals on how to properly characterize sites in order to design a proper in-situ remediation program. Course topics include initial drilling and investigation, various data types to collect, and the kinds of information that contractors and product suppliers need to have beyond what the regulations may require.

  • Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAs) 101 (Wednesday, February 5 from 8:00am to 10:00am) - 1 Regulatory and 1 Technical Credit Pending

PFAs regulation has required a fresh look at many SRP sites, requiring evaluation to identify potential areas of concern which may require investigation and remediation. Review PFAS basics, including terminology, naming conventions, historic uses, and other key information in this 2-hour course.

  • NJ Brownfields and Community Collaborative Initiatives - Refresh and Update (Wednesday, February 5 from 8:00am - 10:00am) - 2 Regulatory Credits Pending

Cleaning up New Jersey’s abandoned and underutilized contaminated sites is important to ensure both the protection of human health and the environment and the revitalization of urban areas. This 2-hour course will provide an overview of the New Jersey Brownfields program, including: performing environmental due diligence; responsibilities of different parties; the LSRP and NJDEP roles; and available funding. An overview of the NJDEP’s Community Collaborative Initiative (CCI) will also be presented as it relates to LSRPs.

  • LSRP Exam Preparation Course - Part 2 (Wednesday, February 5 from 8:00am - 12:00pm) - 2nd Day Course Continuation

This is the 2nd day of the LSRP Exam Preparation Course. You are required to take Part 1, which is being held on Tuesday afternoon.

  • LSRP Practitioner Strategies for Ensuring Regulatory Compliance (Wednesday, February 5 from 10:30am - 11:30am) - 1 Regulatory Credit Pending

“I’m an LSRP! Not a…” Strategies for managing work outside your areas of expertise while remaining protective of human health and the environment. Improve your management skills with new tips and tricks in this 1-hour course, illustrated using actual examples from NJDEP reviewer comments.

  • Remediating Sites, LSRPs Understanding Risks and Liabilities (Wednesday, February 5 from 10:30am - 11:30am) - 1 Regulatory Credit Pending

Presentation followed by panel discussion and audience Q&A over the course of 1 hour, revolving around the topics of LSRP contractual and insurance issues, emergent risk management issues and loss prevention concerns and practitioner issues, with a focus on how these topics interplay with the LSRPs highest priority: to protect public health and safety and the environment.

  • Variances - Diverging from a Rule While Successfully Achieving Rule Objective (Wednesday, February 5 from 1:30pm - 2:30pm) - 1 Technical Credit, Course Number 2019-077

Variances are a mechanism to vary from regulation while still complying with the regulatory objective.  In this 1-hour course, learn why, when, and how to apply a variance to a project, as well as how to provide sufficient justification and successfully obtain case closure.

  • LSRP Board Complaints (Wednesday, February 5 from 1:30pm - 2:30pm) - 1 Regulatory Credit Pending

What to do when before the Board… The New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board regulations provide a mechanism whereby anyone can file a complaint that a person has violated the SRRA or implementing regulations or made false statement, representation or certification to the NJDEP or Licensing Board. This 1-hour course will provide an overview of sub-chapter 7 of N.J.A.C. 7:26I, Disciplinary Proceedings, focusing specifically on complaints and what an LSRP needs to know.

  • Remediation of Heavy Metals Using In-Situ Approaches (Wednesday, February 5 from 2:00pm - 4:15pm) - 2 Technical Credits, Course Number 2018-017

Trace metals constitute a significant class of groundwater contaminants originating from a variety of sources (industrial wastewater, landfill leachate, fossil fuels, and more) with remediation of metals in groundwater posing a significant challenge. This 2.25-hour course will provide a background in the understanding of reaction chemistry and treatment options for metals in ground water and allow LSRPs to better understand contaminant behavior and available treatment options.

  • What SRRA 2.0 Means to LSRPs (Wednesday, February 5 from 2:30pm - 4:45pm) - 2 Regulatory Credits Pending

SRRA 2.0 has implemented key changes to the original 2009 legislation; awareness of these changes is imperative for LSRPs and environmental practitioners to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance. A detailed discussion of these changes will form the basis for this 2-hour course.

Project management as an LSRP, all in 2.25 hours. Strategies for and group discussion of effective project management, from proposal through Response Action Outcome, when navigating a client and their site through SRRA and its implementing regulations.

  • Site Remediation Data and Information - Collection, Analysis and Developing a Sound Basis for Delivering Professional Judgement (Wednesday, February 5 from 2:45pm - 5:00pm) - 2 Regulatory Credits Pending

From the field to the office: the means and methods for collecting and analyzing reliable data to support your decisions.  In addition to theoretical concepts, this 2-hour course incorporates examples based on actual LSRP cases.
