The U.S. Navy in Philadelphia: The Past, Present, and Future
The Navy has a long, rich history in the city of Philadelphia that reaches back to our country’s founding. Our Post’s 2020 Centennial Celebration is recognizing the Society’s 100 years of support to national security here in Philadelphia. As one of the Society’s original Posts, we are also celebrating our 100th birthday. SAME Philadelphia Post is using our annual Navy Day event to talk about 100 years of the Navy’s engineering work in our city. But we will also talk about the Navy’s current activities and what the future will hold.
CDR Roland J. DeGuzman, PE, CEM, U.S. Navy (retired). In 2019, Roland completed his 25-year Navy career where he served at military bases around the world in numerous engineering and leadership positions. He is currently a Senior Project Manager for MBP where his project portfolio includes construction at West Chester University, PA (Go Rams!) and a $98M construction management services contract for the Department of the Navy in the Pacific Ocean area of responsibility.
CDR Stephen Padhi, PE, U.S. Navy. Steve is the Public Works Officer for Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg Philadelphia, in charge of all construction, real property infrastructure, and environmental operations at its three main sites and seven reserve centers in the Pennsylvania area of responsibility. The missions hosted by the base support include top shipbuilding and lifecycle priorities, as well as key nodes to worldwide DoD logistics networks.
