To leave our target audience, the Young Professionals COI, with a better understanding of the Space Force and the avenues of approach the engineering enterprise are taking to best support our newly established branch of Service.
SENIOR MASTER SERGEANT PHILIP B. MCALPIN JR.
Senior Master Sergeant Philip B. McAlpin Jr., serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 460th Civil Engineer Squadron, Buckley Garrison, Colorado. He is responsible for 220 enlisted and civilian personnel who develops, constructs, operates and sustains the installations $5.25 billion infrastructure and facilities; and supports the tenant units of Buckley Air Force Base with flawless execution of installation engineering, environmental leadership, housing excellence, responsive emergency services and providing expeditionary engineering to Buckley Garrison, Combatant Commanders and the Nation.
Sergeant McAlpin was born in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and enlisted in the Air Force in August of 2001 after graduating from Ridley High School. After completion of Basic Military Training and Technical Training, his first duty station was Sheppard AFB, as a Pavements and Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice. He has compiled a broad-range of operational experience throughout seven deployments and by serving in positions such as 554th RED HORSE Assault Assessments and Repair Operations (AARO) Team, 820th RED HORSE Airborne Flight NCOIC, Airborne Explosives Demolition Team Lead, Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade Instructor, Defense Battle Lab Technician, Heavy Repair Section Chief, and Operations Superintendent. Sergeant McAlpin has served overseas in Korea and Panama; and his deployments have supported wartime operations such as IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and most recently INHERENT RESOLVE at Kobani Landing Zone, Syria in 2018.
