Presentation: FEMA Blue Roof mission
Organization: USACE Savannah District
The purpose of the Blue Roof Mission is to provide homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced plastic sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs. This protects property, reduces temporary housing costs, and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the storm. It is a free service to homeowners, and the Corps is a central player in extending technical expertise and assistance, including scoping, procurement and installation of temporary roofing repairs, and utilizes volunteers from across the Corps.
