Unlocking New Changes to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

presented by: Joe DiMisa, F.SAME, LEED AP, REM | Air Force Institute of Technology-The Civil Engineer School

For nearly 50 years, the National Environmental Policy Act or NEPA had remained essentially the same as when it was signed into law in 1970. Required to assess human and natural effects of all federal actions, changes to implementing the law came fast and furious over the last few years. This presentation will arm you with the background, basics, process, and new rules to navigate the NEPA process. The presentation has a focus on the Department of the Air Force processes, but can be relevant to all federal agencies.

Presenter: Mr. Joe DiMisa of the Civil Engineer School at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Mr. DiMisa is an Instructor of Environmental Management focusing on NEPA, water quality management, cultural and natural resources, and environmental restoration. He is the go-to source for all NEPA training and education in the Department of the Air Force. Prior to joining the Air Force, Mr. DiMisa spent 30 years in environmental planning consulting and was a key player on NEPA and other environmental compliance requirements for numerous high profile federal actions. He is a past president and is the long-standing membership chair of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Kittyhawk Post. He is a Fellow with SAME and previous winner of the national membership champion award.

Location: Club House Grill (in FWB Golf Course Clubhouse), 1955 Lewis Turner Blvd, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547
