Who we are

The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Dallas Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Dallas Post membership.

North Texas Regional Future City Competition

Our North Texas area students are in earnest need of your help as one of those supporters now. Your help can make all the difference in the lives of these students as they progress toward the 2017-2018 DiscoverE (National Engineers Week) Future City Competition. Elementary and Middle-school students with a keen interest in engineering, and those committed to helping them realize their dreams, are now preparing for the North Texas Regional event. They need any assistance you can provide.

There are a number of different ways for you and your organization to become involved in this year's North Texas Regional Future City Competition (https://www.dfwfuturecity.org/part.html):

VOLUNTEER: Each year, more than 100 volunteers give in excess of 1000 hours of their time to Future City and inspiring young engineers. We need more volunteers to spread out the load. Volunteer opportunities include: Mentors working with student teams; Judges for project deliverables; and Event Coordinators. Please distribute the Call for Volunteers (below) to your members and encourage them to participate.

BECOME A SPONSOR: There are several levels of support beginning with Special Awards. With a contribution of $250-$500 your organization can provide a special award that promotes your particular interest. These special awards increase the opportunity for every student to be a winner. See www.dfwfuturecity.org/sponsors.html for details and other sponsorship options.
