President's Message

The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Chesapeake Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Chesapeake Post membership.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Chesapeake Post is offering scholarships to assist college students who are pursuing careers in STEM fields: engineering, architecture, mathematics, technology, computer or related science (chemistry, biology, physics) degree programs. (Allied Health sciences are not included.) Awards are made on an annual basis with a minimum award of $250 per recipient. Students enrolling full time as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in college for academic year 2019-2020 can apply. Former/ and current recipients must reapply. Recipients may only hold an award for up to 4 years.

Interested students must submit a completed application no later than March 31, 2019, 4 pm. The application is available by <clicking here>

The scholarship is awarded to students pursuing education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  The student(s) was selected based on their application, teacher recommendations, essay and academic achievement.  In addition to the monetary award, the student will be offered a mentor from the SAME Chesapeake Post as they pursue their academic career and networking opportunities with individuals in the STEM field.

Scan and Email your completed application no later than 4 pm March 31, 2019 to: Karen.a.price.civ@mail.mil. You will receive confirmation that your application has been received and is complete. (Incomplete/late applications will be rejected)
