Message from the President
As your new Post President, Joseph Gross, I extend a warm welcome. We are looking forward to an exciting and impactful 2025-2026 term.
Our scholarship effort in the past year has increased our amount of scholarship awards by over 400%, we are looking to do even better. This scholarship awards go to local worthy engineering students that attend local schools. Your contributions by attending our monthly meeting and participating in the raffle, being a sustaining member firm at our monthly meeting and making a donation and/or playing golf all these proceeds go directly into the scholarship fund.We are kicking things off with engaging speakers at our monthly Post meetings, held on the third Thursday of each month at rotating locations throughout Harford County, Maryland. In addition to these meetings, we are scheduling several site tours throughout the year to give members a behind-the-scenes look at local projects and facilities. These tours offer unique learning opportunities and further insight into the engineering and construction activities shaping our region. And as always, be on the lookout for new and fun networking events throughout the year with our Young Member Committee Chairs.
In June 2026, the Chesapeake Post will co-host with the Baltimore Post the SAME Regional Conference Golf Tournament at Rocky Point Golf Course in Essex, Maryland. It will be a great day of networking, friendly competition, fundraising, and mulligans. Stay tuned for more details on how to participate.
Each year, the Chesapeake Post proudly awards scholarships to qualified local engineering students attending nearby schools. Applications open at the beginning of the year and require a written essay, which is reviewed by our scholarship committee. Your participation—whether by attending meetings, entering raffles, joining as a sustaining member firm, donating, or playing in the golf tournament—directly supports our scholarship fund.
The more support we receive, the more we can give back. This is one of the many ways we invest in our community and help aspiring engineers receive the financial assistance they need. In addition to scholarships, we continue to support mentoring and outreach programs, including the Aberdeen High School STEM Senior Capstone project in September and the I-95 Business Magazine mentoring initiative in October. For details on these programs, please reach out to Matt Smith.
