Newtok Airport Relocation Project

About this presentation:
This project constructed a new airport to support the relocated Newtok community, which relocated due to river erosion impacts. R&M provided surveying, geotechnical investigation/recommendations, public involvement, NEPA support, permitting and civil engineering for the new airport.
The new community site called Mertarvik is located nine miles southeast of Newtok on the north end of Nelson Island on Baird Inlet. The new airport serves small aircraft and consists of a gravel surfaced runway, taxiway, apron, access road, two equipment buildings, airfield lighting and NAVAIDS. Construction was completed in 2022.
