Presentation Description

What engineers do is a great thing, but what they ought to do may be something else. This is where Engineering Ethics come into play. Learn what these ethical issues are all about, why attention to them continues to grow, organizational & professional responsibilities, plus specifics on licensure in Ohio.

Biography

Mr. Mike Howe has over 40 years of federal civilian experience in the A/E/C industry, holding key roles at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. He is formerly the Chief of Infrastructure Support for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Sensors Directorate, providing facility, safety, logistics, and operational support to one of the largest research laboratories in the Air Force. Mr. Howe held various positions for 35 years in the 88th Civil Engineer Group, including the role of Deputy Director. He has been instrumental in the investment of nearly $2B in critical facility and infrastructure repairs plus new construction to support the diverse missions of the Base and strengthen national security. Mr. Howe is currently the owner of ML Howe Consulting LLC, providing engineering solutions across the federal A/E/C industry plus continuing education instruction opportunities in engineering ethics, leadership, management, and administration.

Mr. Howe has been a SAME member for over 21 years and has been active in the Kittyhawk Post serving as Past President, plus various Board and committee positions his entire tenure.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Systems Engineering from Wright State University, a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, and is a graduate of Air War College. He also holds a Masters Certificate in Leadership from the University of Dayton and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.
