SAME DC Post is inviting industry professionals and community mentors to join us in Lab T103 at Phelps ACE High School to mentor our six senior Capstone students.

These students are currently in the critical “Design and Development” phase of their projects. Your guidance on their Elevator Pitches, Survey Designs, Donation Letters, and Material Research will be instrumental in preparing them for their final showcase.

  • Time: 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM

The Projects:

Our seniors are tackling significant environmental and mechanical challenges. Here is who you will be working with:

  • Aiyana: Focusing on Littering and urban waste reduction strategies.
  • Ayominde & Chase: Developing an Air Filtration System specifically designed to reduce carbon footprints.
  • Daniel: Engineering a Plastic & Bottle Crusher Hybrid for a more efficient home trash system.
  • Khloe: Working on innovative methods for Cleaning Up Food Waste.
  • Nikolas: Designing a system to Filter Vehicle Exhaust Emissions at the source.

Why Volunteer?

By giving just over an hour of your time, you help these students refine their technical logic and professional communication. Whether you can make it for one Thursday or all four, your “real-world” perspective is the most valuable resource we can provide them.
