About Hampton Roads Post

About Post

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the premier professional military engineering association in the United States, unites architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C), facility management and environmental entities and individuals in the public and private sectors to prepare for—and overcome—natural and manmade disasters, and to improve security at home and abroad.Headquartered in Alexandria, Va., SAME provides its more than 27,000 members extensive opportunities for training, education and professional development through a robust offering of conferences, workshops, networking events and publications. With a membership that includes recent service academy graduates and retired flag officers, project managers and corporate executives, Department of Defense civilians, private-sector experts and everyone in between, SAME is bridging the gaps between critical stakeholders to advance the field of military engineering and help secure our nation.

Membership Benefits

Employment Opportunities

As a service to our members, the Hampton Roads SAME Post website includes job positions or internships available at local firms and also allow for students or individual members who are looking for employment to list qualifications potential employers can view.

Sustaining Member News

The Hampton Roads SAME Post has been willing to publish articles submitted by Sustaining Member Firms and Individual Members that are deemed to be in the interest of SAME and the Hampton Roads Post.  Typical Articles may include contract awards from our member agencies (i.e. USCG, LANTDIV and Army Corps of Engineers) and key company hires or employee moves. Please send your good news to Kristen Smith by the first Wednesday of each month.

Sustaining Member of the Month

One of our Sustaining Member firms is spotlighted each month, given the opportunity to set up a tabletop booth at the monthly meeting, and be recognized by the President at the start of each meeting. A representative of the firm is also invited to give a short overview of the firm at the luncheon.

The designated Sustaining Member of the Month also provides a summary of their firm’s expertise and services for the military engineering community to be printed in the newsletter. We ask that the Sustaining Member of the Month bring a raffle prize valued at approximately $50 to the luncheon for our Education and Mentoring raffle drawing. If you are interested in participating, please contact Kristen Smith.

Please note that with your firm’s Sustaining Membership, SIX (6) of your employees can be designated as sustaining members (includes two Young Members).

Please go to the National SAME web site and review your company status under Membership.
