The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Philadelphia Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Philadelphia Post membership.

Started in 2013 as a partnership with Syracuse University, SPARK has since been scaled to competitions comprised of multiple universities. Guided by subject matter experts from OBG and industry partners, the teams ideate, develop concepts, and pitch their solutions to a panel of academic and private sector judges to win a cash prize. We are pleased to announce the participating universities for SPARK Metro 2018 include Villanova University, Drexel University, University of c

This month we would like to highlight three of our Philly members. Maria Panichelli, Bob Ruggieri, and Michael Richard, attorneys in the Government Contracts Group of Cohen Seglias, recently attended, exhibited, and presented at the SAME/NVSBE Small Business Conference in New Orleans.  Maria, Michael and Bob, enjoyed reconnecting with so many other Philly Post members in NOLA and meeting other SAME members from across the country.  Maria and Bob also had an opportunity to present a session on Key Considerations in Federal Subcontracting,  where they discussed and led a lively discussion on important issues such as negotiating subcontracts from both a prime and subcontractor perspective, flow-down clauses, key FAR clauses, liquidating agreements, and Miller Act bond claims.  If you weren’t able to make their session, Maria and Bob would be happy to provide copies of their power point presentation and speak with anyone that might have any Government Contract related questions.
