About the Post
THE SAME WASHINGTON DC POST serves Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) members located near or visiting Washington, DC and its surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia – a community of over 7,000 members. SAME leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure-related challenges. Founded in 1921, the SAME DC Post unites public and private sector individuals and organizations from across the architecture, engineering, construction, environmental and facility management, cyber security, project planning, contracting and acquisition, and related disciplines in support of national security.
THE SAME WASHINGTON DC POST is a 100% voluntary organization with an elected local Board of Directors and committees dedicated to serving the membership, through strategic goals of Driving Partnerships, Delivering Solutions, and Developing People through an implementation program:
- providing educational content,
- supporting industry and government engagement,
- building resilient communities,
- connecting with our future leaders through our student and young member groups,
- enriching the STEM pipeline, and
- preparing our military and veterans for life after the service

2026 STEM Scholarship Program
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, March 30, 2026
The SAME DC Post Scholarship Program is designed to recognize and reward outstanding STEM students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000 with more than $75,000 available in funds for 2026.
