Barney Austin PhD, PE, Vice President, Hazen and Sawyer (and Adjunct professor at Oklahoma State University).
Barney Austin has 30 years of experience in water resources science, engineering and planning. He obtained his BSc in Agricultural Engineering in Canada in 1989 and his PhD in Civil Engineering in England in 1995. He was a consultant in England for a few years prior to joining the Texas Water Development Board in 1999. Dr. Austin became Director of the Surface Water Resources Division at the Board in 2004 where he provided oversight on nine statewide programs and was heavily involved in Texas’ regional water planning process. Dr. Austin recently sold his company – Aqua Strategies – and is now Vice President at Hazen and Sawyer, a company that specializes in helping clients understand and manage their water supply, water quality and wastewater needs. One of his most interesting projects involves coordination with the City of Tulsa on monitoring the water quality in Zink Lake.
