Welcome to the Scott Field Post
Dedicated to Our Nation’s Defense
First, I owe a huge THANK YOU to last year’s Post President Julia Pluff and the Executive Board for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the Scott Field Post. Our post continues to thrive thanks to the efforts of leaders like Julia and our many volunteer board/committee members. Julia expertly brought our team together to achieve amazing results again last year and made significant strides supporting the Society and the Scott Air Force Base extended community. The success of the past year and engagement of our membership is a testament to our leadership and executive team. Thank you again for your commitment and service! Our post is proud to be a part of our Society’s rich history and tradition as we approach SAME’s centennial anniversary in 2020. The Executive Board and I are committed to continue to offer informative and engaging monthly programs that serve to attract and connect our public and private sector members and support Young Member engagement, while providing opportunities for continuing education credits.
Two particularly proud moments for me was our inaugural STEM summer camp and the continued success of our Veteran’s Benefit Trivia Night. The Scott Field Post’s summer STEM camp was a resounding success with 40 campers led by the determined and yeoman efforts of Nicole Gunyon. Nicole grabbed the opportunity by the horns early on in 2018 and never, ever let go. Her focus and determination was and remains an inspiration to us all. The 2019 camp will be great based on all the ground work that Nicole and her committee laid last year. Our Veteran’s Benefit Trivia Night, a team effort with the St. Louis Post, continues to grow and provide significant funds to local veteran’s charities. We outgrew our previous venue and moved to a larger hall so that more people could attend. The proceeds continue to grow and this past year we were able to hand a check to this year’s recipient, Missouri Patriot Paws, for $13,617! A banner year! Let’s not forget that our Industry Day also continues to be a success and is growing in attendance every year. Thank you to ALL who had a hand in these and our other successes in 2018!
We are a society of professionals; architects, engineers, scientists, builders, entrepreneurs, public servants, and service members. I am committed to continuing our positive trend in providing a service to both our members and to our civilian and military communities. We will continue to work jointly with our neighboring post in St. Louis to provide exceptional programs and events. Expanding our reach in other initiatives that I have in mind will keep our society a valued asset to a variety of valued partners. 2019 will be a great year. As a member of the military, I am keenly aware that at the end of the day, it is the warfighter that we collectively serve. I have been deployed overseas more than once. As we move forward with this year, let us remember who we ultimately serve and Remember Everyone Deployed. So, as we continue to strive to make our network strong, to make our contributions relevant, and to make our investments of time and treasure value-added to our Nation and to our members, we should also take time to remind ourselves of the value of belonging to SAME.
Thank you again for all that you do to serve our great Nation and make our Post successful. Without the efforts of each of you, we cannot be successful. I am honored to serve in this great nation’s military and to work side by side with each and every one of you.
G. Scott Nall, P.E.
