About the Post
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization dedicated to advancing both individual technical expertise and the collective engineering capabilities of government, the uniformed services, and private industry.
Our mission is to unite public and private sector professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) fields to enhance preparedness, respond to natural and human-made disasters, counter terrorism, and strengthen security both at home and abroad.
About the Scott Field Post
Locally, the Scott Field Post furthers this mission by hosting monthly luncheon meetings and professional/social events attended by members of local government, the military, private industry, students, and other stakeholders. These gatherings provide valuable networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities and are announced via our email distribution list and quarterly newsletter.
We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. SAME STEM Camps
STEM/Engineering & Construction Camps offer high school students interested in a highly unique STEM experience the chance to spend a week at a military base learning engineering, construction and design, while developing leadership skills and discovering the potential of a career in STEM.

Matthews Sworn In as 107th SAME President
Benjamin Matthews, P.E., F.SAME, was sworn-in as the 107th SAME National President at the 2026 Joint Engineer Training Conference (JETC) on May 20, in Portland, Ore. Matthews takes over the role of President from Michael Huffstetler, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, F.SAME, 106th National President of SAME.
