Hello Boston Post!
I am honored to be the next Boston Post President after being sworn in at the annual Spring Meeting held in May. I’d like to commend Deb Beck and her entire Spring Meeting Committee for putting on an outstanding event. Even after more than a year of pandemic lockdowns, we were still able to award over $70,000 in scholarships to deserving college students studying the STEM disciplines! That’s a huge success in my book.
I am lucky to be inheriting a Post that was in the capable hands of Jeff Dulgarian last year. The 2020-2021 Committees, under Jeff’s leadership, hosted several programs (both virtual and safely in-person) despite the pandemic that were critical to our being able to award those scholarships. Thank you, Jeff!
My goal in the coming year is to continue the strong tradition of providing scholarships for students interested in STEM while also encouraging more Post Members to become active and take on key roles within the organization. We will do this through a “Mentor-Protege” program that we are introducing this year that will work simultaneously with our current membership development at the committee level. We are lucky to have an amazing membership here at the Post but we still need more participation in all of our outstanding committees. We’re confident that this will find the next generation of active Post members and leaders.
Finally, I look forward to having in-person events soon! Networking is a priority for me, and I will make sure it’s emphasized all year. We are excited to kick things off with our annual “Spring Golf Classic” on June 8th at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland. Jon Abplanalp, Andrew Timmis, and the rest of the Golf Committee always do a great job. Other Programs will follow, and we will do everything we can to make sure the events are safe and available for those who may still want to attend virtually. Our Programs Committee, led by Deb Beck, is ramping up for a big year of interesting programs with lots of networking. Please join a committee if you have not already!
I’m looking forward to an exciting 2021-2022 with all of you, and I invite you to please call me anytime with questions at (339) 236-4645, and thank you!!
