Boston Post

It is with our deepest sorrow that the SAME Boston announces the passing of a longtime Boston Post member, Cranston “Chan” Rogers, on June 18, 2024, after a lifetime of service to the nation and civil engineering industry.

Chan Rogers was a lifetime member and historian of the Boston Post, instrumental in the development of the Boston Post to what is it today, a former Post President, and one of the founding fathers of the Boston Post’s Scholarship Program. Chan was also awarded the S. Peter Volpe Award in 1995, our highest honor for service to the Post, given annually to a member of the Boston Post in recognition of their outstanding and meritorious service to the Post. However, his service and support to the Post continued long after this recognition. Chan is fondly remembered for his story telling, a lifetime member of the Post, a great mentor and friend and he will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the SAME Boston Post Scholarship Fund in Chan’s name and honor.

Our Mission

Build leaders and lead collaboration among government and industry to develop multidisciplined solutions to national security infrastructure challenges.

About the Post

The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.

Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.

The Boston Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Boston Post membership.
