Emerald Coast PDH/CEU certificates

The Emerald Coast post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is an authorized “Continuing Education Provider – Exempt” under Florida License #59

Engineers are encouraged to RSVP up for regular meetings utilizing the Constant Contact links, which will provide an invoice by e-mail that may satisfy the CEU/PDH requirements for documentation. Special events, such as Industry Day, will utilize a separate form.

In the event that this receipt is not adequate/lost, attendees may download the CEU/PDH certificate below and fill in the appropriate information to document attendance.

As required by the Florida Board of Engineers, the post will maintain a list of meeting/event attendees, to verify attendance. So make sure to sign in at the payment table!

7 Jan 2026 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “PFAS compounds”, Dr Bridgette Ashley, Ph.D, Environmental Management Branch Chief, Eglin AFB. Provided a detailed description of Polyfluorooalkyl Substances (PFAS) to include impacts to the community and how their presence affects planning and construction.

4 Feb 2026 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “RED HORSE Construction”, Lt Col Garrett Karnowski, Commander 823rd RED HORSE Squadron, Hurlburt Field. Provided an overview of the construction capabilities of the RED HORSE squadron, along with overview of the design and construction challenges of projects constructed by the unit in austere environments.

19 Mar 2026 – Industry Day – Separate CEU sheet for attendees

1 April 2026 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “Low Maintenance Design”, Mr Zach Holt P.E., Baskerville-Donovan Engineers. Low maintenance lessons learned from the design, construction and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure in Central and South America.

May 2026 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “NEPA Process”, Mr Joe DiMisa, Environmental Management Instructor, Air Force Instutute of Technology, Wright Patterson AFB. Mr DiMisa provided an overview of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and how it is implemented within the Air Force construction process.

2 Apr 2025- 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Water Production and Distribution”, Mr Eric Jenkins, American States Utility Systems. Discussion of local water production and distribution system, along with information on efforts to increase resiliency of the systems and the sustainabilty of the watter supply.

7 May 2025-1130-1230hrs Site Visit (1.0hrs CEU)-“Air Force Research Lab Prototype Facility”, Mr John Steele, Air Force Research Lab Prototype Manager, Eglin AFB. The purpose and function of the AFRL Prototype lab is to machine and produce low quantities of specialized weapons and parts for testing on the Eglin range.

4 Jun 2025-1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Okaloosa County Emergency Management”, Mr Ryan Prince, Okaloosa County Public Safety Manager. The Okaloosa County emergency management program overview and how the Emergency Management Center functions during hurricanes and other emergencies.

2 Jul 2025 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Coastal Resiliency”, Mr David Newell P.E., US Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. The USACE manages the design and construction of coastal resiliency projects throughout the Gulf Coast. Project design and construction methods were discussed.

6 Aug 2025 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“FDEP Environmental Oversight”, Mr Blake Chapman, Environmental Manager with Northwest Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency. Overview of the environmental responsibilities and resources available from the NW District of FDEP.

3 Sep 2025 – (No CEUs)-“STEM education and the Emerald Coast Science Center”, Ms. Diane Frasier, Director. The Emerald Coast Science Center has numerous opportunities for STEM engagement with students. A tour and briefing was provided.

1 Oct 2025 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Project Management Lessons Learned”, Mr Shawn Moore, Woolpert. The management of construction projects is fraught with the potential for major cost and schedule delays.

5 Nov 2025-No Meeting due to Government Furlough

3 Dec 2025 – 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “AFRL Autonomy and Navigation Lab”, Mr John Henry, Air Force Research Lab Autonomy, Navigation and Control Branch, Munitions Directorate. A tour and briefing of how the Autonomy Lab is using sensors and artificial intelligence to provide target and surveillance drones for Munitions Directorate testing.

7 Feb 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Site Visit Hurlburt Field Construction: 65% Complete” Mr Eddie Wofford, 1 SOCES MILCON Construction Manager. 2nd visit to construction project site with building at 65% completion.

3 April 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Hurlburt/Eglin AFB Energy Resilience Readiness Exercise (ERRE)” Mr Andy Adams, P.E., 96 CEG/CEO and Mr Steve Loken, P.E., 1 SOCES/CD. Planning and execution of base wide power outage exercises for Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field conducted in Feb 2024.

1 May 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “Hurlburt Field Electric Vehicle Implementation” Mr Dylan Basford, Hurlburt Field Base Energy Manager.  Engineering challenges implementing government mandated conversion of 300+ government vehicles to electric. 

5 June 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0 hrs CEU) – “Unexploded Ordnance Disposal in Choctawhatchee Bay” Lt Col Chad Hogue, 96 CES, Eglin AFB.  Environmental and safety challenges/ solutions of disposal of WWII era bomb discovered in civilian waters of local bay.

7 Aug 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – ” Local Traffic Problems and Solutions” Mr Matt Vera, 1 SOCES Engineering Flight Chief. Hurlburt Field is actively involve with finding solutions to traffic jams in the local area. A traffic roundtable has identified projects and found advocacy.

4 Sep 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU) – “AFRL Advanced Munitions Technology Complex” Dr Lambert, Chief Scientist Munitions Directorate Air Force Research Lab. Dr Lambert discussed the mission and R&D design elements of the AFRL AMTC. This facility allows scientists and engineers to experiment with new explosive materials and integrate them into complex munition designs more efficiently..

2 Oct 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Site Visit Hurlburt Field Construction: 95% Complete” Mr Eddie Wofford, 1 SOCES MILCON Construction Manager. 2nd visit to construction project site with building at 95% completion. Construction progress along with problems/solutions were discussed.

6 Nov 2024 1130-1230hrs (1.0hrs CEU)-“Construction Standards for Secure Facilities” Naomi Hough, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, Eglin AFB. Overview of secure area construction standards as detailed in document ICD 705 to include lessons learned and good ideas.
