About the Post
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing both individual technical expertise and the collective engineering capabilities of government agencies, uniformed services, and private industry.
Since 1955, the Kaiserslautern Post has been an active presence in the European theater. The Post continues to grow and currently supports two Field Chapters: the Poland Field Chapter (established in 2024) and the Italy Field Chapter (established in 2025).
Our mission is to bring together public- and private-sector professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) fields to prepare for and respond to natural and man-made disasters, mitigate risks associated with terrorism, and enhance security both domestically and internationally.
At the local level, the Kaiserslautern Post advances this mission through monthly luncheon programs, quarterly site visits, an active STEM program, and a variety of professional and social events. These activities are attended by military personnel, government civilians, industry professionals, host nation partners, students, and others with an interest in engineering and national security. Message from Post President – Ms. Yvonne Lee
I am incredibly excited and honored to address you today as the newly elected President of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Kaiserslautern Post. This is a role I deeply value, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this amazing community and our Society.
My primary goal for this year is to foster a stronger, more cohesive Post membership. I believe we can achieve this through a renewed focus on creating regular and engaging Post events and meetings. These gatherings will be designed to provide tangible benefits to every member, centered around three key areas:
- Industry Government Engagement (IGE): We will prioritize opportunities for meaningful dialogue and collaboration between industry and government partners. This includes facilitating networking events, and insightful presentations that foster a better understanding of each other’s needs and capabilities.
- Professional Development: We will strive to provide members with access to valuable professional development resources, including training sessions, guest speakers, and mentorship programs. Our aim is to empower our members to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
- Increased Young Professionals Involvement: The future of SAME lies within our Young Professionals (under 39-years-old). We will actively engage our younger members by creating opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and networking. We will solicit their input and ideas to ensure the Post remains relevant and thrives for years to come.
I truly believe by working together, we can make the SAME Kaiserslautern Post even better. Your input is invaluable, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and suggestions with me or any member of our dedicated leadership team. We are here for YOU!
