About the Post
The Society of American Military Engineers is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services and private industry.
Our goal is to unite public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man made disasters, acts of terrorism and improve security at home and abroad.
The Charleston Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. These meetings are announced via our e-mail distribution list and quarterly newsletter. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. THANK YOU to our Charleston Post Members for your continued support for ALL that we do! We are excited to share a little bit more about how the Charleston Post supports the annual and ongoing efforts of the SAME Foundation in “Fostering Engineering Leadership for the Nation.”
Established in 2016 as a registered 501C(3) non-profit organization, the SAME Foundation mission is to strengthen America’s pipeline for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to provide valued training programs for future engineering leaders. The Foundation supports several valued SAME initiatives each year including funding our Leader Development Program (LDP) for SAME members. The Charleston Post Board is proud to have two graduates of LDP and one current participant in the 2027 class. The Foundation also supports the multiple STEM Summer Camps for high school students, located on military bases across the U.S.
Did you know that the SAME Foundation presents an annual Soaring Eagle Award during a special event that honors visionary leadership that uplifts the A/E/C industry and inspires the next generation of STEM professionals? This prestigious national recognition celebrates individuals whose bold leadership, innovative thinking, and commitment to mentorship are shaping a smarter, more resilient future for the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) community.”
The next Soaring Eagle Award will be presented to France Q. Hoang by the SAME Foundation on March 17, 2027, during SAME’s Capital Week Conference in Rockville, MD.
