Discovery Crew

Join the Discovery Crew for an exciting half-day event where middle schoolers and their parents or guardians embark on a journey of exploration and future planning—together. While students dive into engaging, hands-on STEM workshops that spark creativity and curiosity, parents and guardians will participate in informative sessions focused on supporting their child’s academic and career journey. This event equips every family with the tools to dream big and take action.

Discovery Crew will be October 24, 2026 on the USA campus.  Attendance is FREE and is open to students in 5^th – 8^th grades and their parents.  Our program includes:

• STEM exhibit tables for students and parents to explore together
• Three hands-on STEM workshops for students
• Parent/guardian sessions providing local resources for supporting STEM career pathways
• T-Shirt and goodie bag for students

Students who register by October 2 will be entered into a drawing to win a 3D Printer!  Details and registration are at www.discoverycrew.org.

JROTC STEM Leadership Academy

The JROTC STEM Leadership Academy is a week-long residential academy for Mobile County JROTC Cadets.  The goal of the Academy is to groom Cadets into future contributors to our local STEM workforce by providing a first-hand look at STEM in action as Cadets work alongside local scientists and engineers to design innovate solutions to local problems.  Cadets conduct experiments in university labs, construct and build hands-on engineering projects, and experience a variety of local industries via interactive tours and mentoring.
