Joint Meeting with SAME and Mid-Atlantic Region Environmental Professionals (MAREP)
Join us for a joint happy hour with MAREP!
Upal Gosh PhD, Professor at the Department of Chemical, Biochemical, and Environmental Engineering will facilitate this event to highlight environmental engineering projects at UMBC. University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and colleagues (including graduate students) will present on UMBC’s ongoing work on fate, transport, and remediation of contaminants in sediments.
What is Fate and Transport, you ask? The fate and transport of contaminants in sediments refers to what happens to pollutants after they enter the ground or water and how they move through the environment. Simply put, “fate” means whether these harmful substances stay in one place, break down, or change into something else, while “transport” is about how they get carried from one spot to another. Understanding this helps us know where contaminants might end up and how they could affect plants, animals, and people over time.
For those who register for the Happy Hour, drinks and appetizers will be provided!
